Hicks Technical Service, llc is a Cambria County, Pennsylvania based company specializing in electrical and instrumentation tasks throughout the United States of America. Founded in July 2008 by Ken Hicks.

The owner and primary technician, Ken Hicks, has over 10 years experience in the electrical and instrumentation industry.

From a humble upbringing in Western Pennsylvania, Ken Hicks started his Electrical experience at the Penns Manor High school with basic electrical theory, and hands on experience. 3 weeks after graduating Ken enrolled at Triangle Tech (Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology) in Dubois PA in the summer of 1998. Some of the curriculum highlights are Electrical Service Installation, Power Transformers, Power Distribution, Motor Controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial Controls, Computer Applications, AC/DC Motors, Cost Estimating, and Low Voltage Wiring. Ken graduated in the fall of 1999 with a 3.5GPA and a 97.1 Attendance. Ken successfully passed the West Virginia electrical journeyman’s exam in the fall of 1999.

Ken started his career with Crum Electric out of Frederick, MD as a Journeyman electrician. Looking to get into the maintenance field Ken accepted a position at The Sexton Can Company based out of Martinsburg, WV. With only 14 months in the working field Ken found a great opportunity at the City of Fredrick as an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician. After spending over 4 years with the City Ken then went full circle back to Crum Electric. During this transaction he obtain his WV Electrical Masters License. 18 months later another opportunity presented itself at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station supporting their I&C shop for a refueling outage. Ken has continued traveling the USA supporting I&C shops at various other nuclear stations.

When he compared the meager wages he made working for someone else, and the intense schedule to the lofty goals he had set for himself, he knew he would have to change directions to have any hope of achieving his goals. The idea of being away from family, and friends made him determined to take full advantage of his skills.
However it was the advice and praise from mentors in the field that started him down the path of “Liking what you do, and taking it serous”.
